O W Erlewine Elementary School

Erlewine School is an Integrated Thematic Instruction School.  For those of you unfamiliar with ITI, it offers a well-balanced, thematic, standards-based instructional program which is closely focused on meeting the individual learning,emotional, social, and physical needs of each student. Students will learn through different modes, styles, and multiple intelligences.  Themes will be used as a way of understanding and organizing new concepts.  This program has been shown to increase student achievement in part because it presents new information with existing knowledge rather than in isolation.  Teachers will be integrating the Common Core Standards into their themes.
